Zum einen rückt er ein bisher vorwiegend unter dem Aspekt der Quellenforschung, nicht jedoch (postmoderner) Intertextualitätsforschung betrachtetes Feld der antiken Literatur, die Historiographie, ins Zentrum des Interesses und füllt damit ein echtes Forschungsdesiderat.
